A classical tabla maestro of the first order, Zakir Hussain has made unprecedented strides in bringing his instrument to a global audience.  His brilliant and exciting performances, marked by uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity, have established him as an international phenomenon and one of India's most renowned cultural ambassadors.  Masters of Percussion offers the audience an opportunity to experience both melodic and rhythmic exploration, and will feature traditional repertoire from both Hindustani and Carnatic classical traditions, as well as excursions into the frontier between traditional and contemporary, folk and classical.
