The Simón Bolívar String Quartet showcases the principal musicians of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. Having worked with conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado, and Sir Simon Rattle, the quartet has brought their “expressiveness, with darkly shimmering tone” (The Glasgow Herald) to renowned venues, including Lincoln Center, London’s Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Musikverein Vienna, and more. Born of an organization devoted to promoting chamber music among young people, the SBSQ will bring their “refreshing spontaneity and, above all, a passionate commitment” (Eastern Daily Press) to the Ithaca community in a program featuring Haydn, Ginastera, and Shostakovich.
