A SAGE CHAPEL EVENT
THIS EVENT HAS CONCLUDED
“Surely this is what it must have been like to hear Bach lead the ensemble in one of his cantatas”
– The New York Times
Established in the year 1212, the St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig was led by J.S. Bach for 27 years and premiered many of his works. The choir graces us with the voices of 50 boys and men touring to mark the 500-year-anniversary of Martin Luther’s Reformation. The “tender, clear sound of the sopranos and altos …[and] the robust, youthful sounds of the somewhat older tenors, baritones, and basses” (The New York Times) will rise over organ and cello continuo as the ensemble sings a program of sacred works by Mendelssohn and noted historical St. Thomas cantors Johann Schein and Bach himself.
If you need accommodations to participate in this event, please contact (607) 255-5144 as soon as possible.
