March 2018:
Sweet Honey in the Rock

With generous support from Engaged Cornell, Cornell Concert Series presented two community workshops with sweet Honey in the Rock.

Roughly 150 people braved the snow (and a very rare Cornell closing due to weather!) to attend the first workshop on campus on Friday, March 2nd.

Sweet Honey shared their stories and their music. Since a big part of Sweet Honey’s mission is reducing barriers to participation, sign language plays an important role in their performances. They taught everyone to sign along to a song.

On Saturday morning, March 3, CCS partnered with Engaged Cornell and Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) to present Sweet Honey in the heart of downtown Ithaca. Again, roughly 150 people came out to learn about the group and sing about social justice.
