The Knights are a collective of adventurous musicians dedicated to transforming the classical orchestra experience and reimagining the relationship between audiences and music. Boasting a diverse roster of composers, arrangers, and improvisers, the ensemble unites a host of influences within the chamber music context, celebrating the intimacy and spontaneity of this idiom in fresh new ways. “One of Brooklyn’s sterling cultural products” (The New Yorker), the orchestra has toured and recorded with famed soloists including Yo-Yo Ma, Dawn Upshaw, Béla Fleck, and Gil Shaham, and has appeared across the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, Ravinia, the Kennedy Center, and the Vienna Musikverein. In their Ithaca program, the Knights join forces with MacArthur Fellow and GRAMMY-winning mandolinist, singer, and songwriter Chris Thile of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek. Their program will include works by Caroline Shaw, Chris Thile, Antonín Dvorák, Colin Jacobsen, and J. S. Bach.

“An adventurous young orchestra that has established a strong reputation for polished performances and imaginative programming.” – The New York Times

“[Chris Thile is] that rare being: an all-round musician who can settle into any style, from bluegrass to classical.” – The Guardian

“Classical music concerns a dialogue between old and new. This is a programming specialty of the Knights…” – The Washington Post
